This is another in a series of books Kiyosaki and Lechter have written aimed at teaching the novice about building wealth. It purports to teach the basics of the mentality needed to be a successful investor and some of the fundamental disciplines and principles needed.
You will not find anything new or revolutionary here. The authors teach the basics on attitude, education, awareness and various investment methods. This book might be a good starting place for someone who wants to know the basics. Kiyosaki, who himself has been bankrupt, emphasizes the need to take risks to make money but he also teaches how one must invest intelligently and carefully. This book is not for a timid person who wants to minimize risk. It is about building serious wealth with the attendant risks.
Many of the ideas here are very sound, as in having a sound investment plan and sticking to it and educating yourself before taking the plunge. Like all wealth advice books though it is high on promise and minimizes what can go wrong. The author’s suggestions about automatic wealth should be taken with a dose of salt. While investments wisely made can pay off over time there is always work and maintenance involved and the authors may not give this full credit.
No one should rely on one book for their investment education and this is certainly not the best of its kind. It is however a great beginning education on some of the principles needed as well as how to avoid some of the pitfalls.
One caution: neither author is a certified financial advisor nor there is no independent verification of their skill level in investments or of their own personal performance.
Readability/Writing Quality:
This is well written. It tends to be a bit redundant. It is well organized and for the most part is clearly written.
Notes on Author:
Robert Kiyosaki is an author and investor. Sharon Lechter is a CPA and has co-authored a number of books in this Rich Dad series with Kiyosaki. Together they combine the school of hard knocks wisdom Kiyosaki has learned with some more technical financial advice from Lechter as the accountant.
